New Low Temperature Limit -Atomic Resolution at 2.6K
The LT STM recently reached a new low temperature limit. By pumping on the LHe reservoir it was possible to cool down significantly below 5 K and reach 2.6 K. At this temperature Au(111), Au film on glass, was imaged with atomic resolution. (1.8 nm x 1.8 nm)
